MCLEAN, Va. –As part of its ongoing commitment to create learning and career growth opportunities in the communities where it operates, Hilton has announced it will hire 1,500 additional refugees over the next three years at its managed and franchised properties across the U.S.
The hospitality company made the announcement Monday during its participation in the Tent Foundation U.S. Business Summit in New York. The summit brings together corporations with the goal of hiring and economically integrating refugees in the U.S., including recently arrived Afghan and Ukrainian refugees, during the next three years.
“Creating a place where all are welcome is a part of Hilton’s DNA and has long guided the investments we’ve made in those seeking career opportunities in hospitality, including refugees, military families, youth, and others,” said Laura Fuentes, chief human resources officer, Hilton. “Hilton has committed to creating 5 million learning and career opportunities for team members and communities by 2030, and we are proud to partner with Tent and commit to hiring 1,500 refugees in the U.S. during the next three years to help build these inclusive career pathways across the industry.”
The hiring pledge is part of Hilton’s overall commitment to become an engine of opportunity in creating employment pathways for underrepresented groups, including refugees, military veterans and their families, and youth. Hilton has positively impacted more than 25,000 refugees since 2015 through volunteering, in-kind donations, purchasing, training and employment. The company has also hired more than 35,000 U.S. military veterans and military family members, and created career opportunities for youth in partnership with multiple nonprofit organizations.
As a longtime partner of the Tent Partnership for Refugees, Hilton became the first hospitality company to join Tent in 2018, pledging to impact 16,000 refugees by 2030 through employment opportunities, hospitality skills training, in-kind donations and volunteer hours to refugee organizations.
Between 2019 and 2021, Hilton has impacted more than 20,400 refugees globally – surpassing its original commitment to the Tent Partnership.
Inclusivity is a key component of Hilton’s award-winning workplace culture. In 2022, Hilton has been named the #2 Best Company to Work for in the U.S. by Fortune and Great Place to Work and was also recognized in countries around the world, including Brazil (#3), China (#1), Colombia (#5), Peru (#1), Argentina (#3), Belgium (#3), Uruguay (#1), the Philippines (#3), Ireland (#1), Saudi Arabia (#3), Qatar (#8), UAE (#4), Turkey (#1), Sweden (#15), Italy (#8), Portugal (#3), France (#2), Spain (#6), Germany (#10), Canada (#7) and UK (#3).
